Switching Gears: Cognitive & Emotional Flexibility in Caring Professional Context

This training session offers a practical and reflective space for participants to explore how psychology supports wellbeing and performance when shifting between clients, classes, or cases, and how maintaining clarity and balance fosters both empathy and productivity.

The session invites participants to understand emotional boundary management as a core element of sustainable professional practice. Drawing on psychological models of emotion and role transition, we will explore how awareness, regulation, and closure can transform how we move through demanding situations back-to-back.
Participants will develop personalised transition strategies that help them reset, refocus, and re-engage with intention. The training highlights the value of applying psychological knowledge across disciplines, aligning with the EFPSA 2026 theme Breaking Boundaries by demonstrating how internal self-management enables collaboration, adaptability, and growth across education, healthcare, and other helping professions.
